Why Qlik + Alt + Tab?

I have been working for over 20 years in the Business Intelligence, Data Analysis and Management Space. Riding the first wave of Data Warehouses, Data Marts and traditional Business Intelligence tools. Namely these where Relational RBDMs Data warehouses (e.g. Oracle and SQL Server) and tools like Business Objects and Cognos.

Over the years these once state of the art tools and approaches have begun more and more to be seen as Legacy and dated with the onset of the Big Data Hadoop Hype cycle, The Data Science hype cycle and the current adoption and prevalence of Cloud technologies.

In the last 5 years I have got very impressed with three tools in particular; Qlikview/QlikSense, Alteryx and Tableau. Just as a PC can get bloated and run slowly over a period of time and needs a reboot to get it to work properly again. Traditional BI was in need of a bit of reboot and in my opinion these three tools were doing a very good job in enabling this. 

I started a twitter account 2 years ago; Qlik Alt Tab ( @qlikalt) to tweet about these tools and related subjects. Unfortunately life and work gets in the way and so was not able to be as active on it as I had originally hoped.

A play on words :just as you press Control + Alt + Delete to reboot the PC - So Qlik + Alteryx + Tableau to reboot the BI Space.

2021 has just started and I an now starting this blog. Nothing too sophisticated but just my thoughts and ramblings about all things DATA.
